Afraid Of The Dentist? Let’s Talk About Sedation.

Afraid of the Dentist? Your Owensboro Sedation Dentist Can HelpIf you are among the millions of Americans who experience anxiety or even phobia when it comes to dental work, sedation dentistry from Thompson & Frey Cosmetic and Family Dentistry in Owensboro may be just what you need.

Too many people skip regular checkups because of the intense anxiety they get when it comes to the dentist. The problem with that, of course, is that by doing so, they put their dental health at risk.

There are many reasons why people tense up at the mere thought of having to see the dentist. It may be a fear of pain or the loss of control; it may be due to a bad experience with a dentist that they had in childhood. Whatever the reason, if this sounds like you, we can help.

At Thompson & Frey we offer two types of sedation dentistry:

  • Nitrous oxide. Better known as laughing gas, it has a long and successful track record in dentistry, having been commonly used for more than a century. You may not actually laugh with it, but nitrous oxide puts you in a deeply relaxed state. It acts quickly and wears off quickly.
  • Oral conscous sedation. With this, you take a prescribed sedative an hour or so before your scheduled procedure. This too puts you in a deeply relaxed state – deeper than nitrous oxide. You will not be asleep, but you will need someone to drive you to and from our office.

At Thompson & Frey Cosmetic and Family Dentistry in Owensboro, we want our patients to have regular checkups and excellent dental health. Sedation dentistry can help. We also offer a full range of family dentistry services. Call for an appointment today.
